There are five belts in Lean Six Sigma certification:

  • White Belt: This is the entry-level belt and is designed to give people a basic understanding of Lean Six Sigma principles. White belts typically do not lead projects, but they can participate as team members and help to promote Lean Six Sigma within their organizations.
  • Yellow Belt: This belt is a step up from White Belt and provides a more in-depth understanding of Lean Six Sigma principles. Yellow belts can lead small projects and are responsible for collecting and analyzing data.
  • Green Belt: This is the most common belt level and is designed to prepare people to lead Lean Six Sigma projects. Green belts have a strong understanding of Lean Six Sigma principles and are able to use statistical tools to solve problems.
  • Black Belt: This is the highest belt level and is designed to prepare people to be experts in Lean Six Sigma. Black belts have a deep understanding of Lean Six Sigma principles and are able to lead large-scale projects.
  • Master Black Belt: This is the highest level of certification and is designed to prepare people to be leaders in Lean Six Sigma. Master Black belts have a deep understanding of Lean Six Sigma principles and are able to train and mentor other Lean Six Sigma professionals.

The belts are often organized in a hierarchy, with White Belts at the bottom and Master Black Belts at the top. However, it is important to note that the belts are not a linear progression. You can skip belts or move back and forth between belts depending on your experience and knowledge.
